XDG – The Digital Gateway Module for the Connection of Digital Terminal Devices

Our new INTRON-X is a state-of-the-art modular IP-based platform for scalable Intercom, PA/GA and PA solutions. The INTRON-X provides solutions for all types of industrial communication needs and requirements.

There are five main INTRON-X modules: XCO, XDG, XIO, XAL and XBC available.

Recently we introduced you to our core element of the INTRON-X – the fully IP-capable X‑Controller XCO. Today’s topic is the Module for the connection of digital terminal devices – the Digital Gateway Module XDG.

Best Solution for your Digital Terminal Devices

The main purpose of the XDG is to connect digital INDUSTRONIC terminal devices via 2‑wire technology to the INTRON-X system. One XDG can connect up to 8 digital terminal devices like digital intercom stations, amplifiers and more.
Besides a centralized installation, there is also the option of decentralized installation where the XDG can be installed remotely. The distances covered by 2-wire technology are significantly shorter, because the module can be installed at the same place as the connected terminal devices.

The module has also 2 Ethernet interfaces which allow for a redundant network access. If one network interface fails, data is transmitted via the second one.
It is possible that terminal devices can be redundantly connected to 2 different XDG modules ensuring availability of terminal devices. In case one XDG fails, the second one takes over.

The XDG has an automatic integrated self-monitoring function. So all connected terminal devices, connection cables, and power supplies are permanently monitored.
Together with flexible redundancy concepts (A+B and Hot-Standby) the XDG ensures continuous operation and maximum system availability.

Compact Industrial Design

The INTRON-X modules have a uniform and fanless industrial design. One module has a width of only 1/3 19″ and a height of 1 RU. All modules have the same size so that 3 of them can be flexibly combined in a 19″ chassis or other suitable location by using the appropriate chassis. This allows a decentralized and centralized installation – just how your project requires it. Thanks to IP all INTRON-X components are interconnected via network.

The XDG can be supplied via an external DC power supply. Commissioning is done via software tools from INDUSTRONIC.

The module comes with all required accessories to start right out of the box. This means that all required cables and terminal blocks are included in a so-called Preferred Module.
