Our colleague, Stefan Alden, is active at the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) in the area of “Hazard Detection and Monitoring Systems” in the working groups “Networking” and “Cyber Security & Data Protection”. Through these activities, he also has contacts with VdS staff.
Stefan was invited by VdS as an expert to participate in the “BrandSchutzTalk”: “Using shared infrastructure for safety-related systems – why does each system have to bring its own wiring network?”.
The background is that shared use of network infrastructure is increasingly becoming a topic of discussion among manufacturers, planners, operators, etc., even for safety-related installations.
The standards working group “Networking” came into being because some manufacturers have noticed that there is a need for a standard on the subject of using network infrastructure in safety-related systems.
