“No matter how important the project is – INDUSTRONIC’s primary objective is to prevent accidents and to safeguard the health and safety of every employee.” This sentence describes the principle of our HSE manual (health, safety and environment manual). We have defined priorities for safety and health at work as well as for environmental protection in all operating areas of our company. In order to show you our commitment, INDUSTRONIC’s HSE management system was certified according to the SCC standard.

Additionally, many of our European customers also demand a proof that service employees working in their plants have been instructed on safety. With the SCC certificate we fulfill the wishes and needs of our customers and are allowed to work at locations where the SCC certificate is mandatory.

You may ask yourself what is the purpose of a SCC certificate (SCC = Safety Certificate Contractors) and what are the benefits?

The SCC certificate was developed to assess the quality of contractors in terms of safety, health and environmental protection. Contractors are companies which provide technical support and other services for its principal based on a service contract. INDUSTRONIC often takes on the role of the contractor itself, as its service employees perform maintenance work on existing production plants and also play an active part during the installation of a new system or the expansion of an existing one.

There are three types of certificates:

–         SCC* = Restricted certificate (for companies with up to 35 employees)

–         SCC** = Unrestricted certificate

–         SCCP = Unrestricted certificate for the petrochemical industry

INDUSTRONIC obtained the unrestricted SCCP certificate for the petrochemical industry.

Certification Procedure

In order to be certified according to the SCC rules 2011 several further steps must be performed after the introduction of a HSE management system. Among others, the following items are checked and evaluated on the basis of the SCC checklist:

–         Risk analysis and assessment

–         Preparation for emergency situations

–         Occupational health care

–         Notification, registration and investigation of incidents and unsafe situations.

An essential element of the SCC certification is the training of the management and the employees. For this purpose, our managerial personnel and the employees who conduct operative tasks on the customer’s site completed a training course and successfully passed the subsequent exam.

After the accredited SCC certification body (in our case the KIWA International Cert GmbH from Hamburg) had evaluated all documents, our customer service center in Dormagen and the headquarters in Wertheim were successfully audited and we received our SCC certificate.

This certificate is annually evaluated by a surveillance audit until the re-audit after three years.

What are the benefits of a SCC certificate?

An increased safety awareness of employees prevents accidents. This in turn ensures less downtime of systems and machines and of course less costs. For our customers this means that our service employees can reliably keep maintenance and service appointments.
