XBC – Connect Different Types of Flashing Warning Beacons

Our INTRON-X is a state-of-the-art modular IP-based platform for scalable Intercom, PA/GA and PA solutions. The INTRON-X provides solutions for all types of industrial communication needs and requirements.

There are five main INTRON-X modules: XCO, XDG, XIO, XAL and XBC

By now, you already know almost all the X-modules. Last time we introduced you to our module which connects analog audio components – the XAL. This module is mainly used to connect up to 6 analog audio components – analog intercom stations, as well as interconnect INDUSTRONIC systems and third-party systems. Today we want to present our XBC – a module to connect different types of flashing warning beacons.

The Best Solution to Control Beacons

Our XBC is used to switch and monitor up to 4 AC or DC flashing warning beacon circuits wired as line and/or loop.

The advantage of line cabling is the reduction of the loop back to the terminal device. Therefore, line cabling is cheaper than a loop cabling. If the cable is interrupted in line cabling, the beacons connected after the break are no longer supplied with power and therefore fail. Fail-safety suffers with this method.

With loop cabling, the flashing warning beacons are supplied with power from two supply points. In the event of a fault, the beacons continue to be supplied from the other line, making a failure very unlikely.

The XBC supports automatic line monitoring of the flashing warning beacons for cable break, short circuit and ground leakage. Contrary to the loop cabling, the line cabling needs a 1 ELM end-of-line-module. The ELM presents a defined resistance, making the monitoring of line cabling possible for the XBC.

Like all INTRON-X modules, the XBC also has 2 Ethernet interfaces, which allow for redundant network access. If one network interface fails, data is transmitted via the second one. The XBC has an integrated automatic self-monitoring function. The internal electronics are powered via PoE (with redundancy) or a separate DC supply.

Compact Industrial Design

The INTRON-X modules have a uniform and fanless industrial design. One module has a width of only 1/3 19″ and a height of 1 RU. All modules have the same size, so that 3 of them can be flexibly combined in a 19″ chassis or other suitable location by using the appropriate chassis. This allows a decentralized and centralized installation – just as your project requires it. Thanks to IP all INTRON-X components are interconnected via the network.

The XBC can be supplied via an external DC power supply. Commissioning is done via software tools from INDUSTRONIC.

The module is supplied with all necessary accessories allowing, for a seamless start right out of the box. This means that all required cables and terminal blocks are included in a so-called Preferred Module. Extend your possibilities!
