Project name

J3 Project

General project description

The J3 complex of Reliance Industries (RIL) comprises the world’s largest coke gasification complex and petrochemical plants. In addition to its crude oil refinery, this plant also manufactures various grades of fuel, ranging from motor gasoline to aviation turbine fuel. The petrochemical plants produce plastic and fiber intermediates. The intent of J3 is to build the world’s largest gasification complex with cracker and downstream plants (C2 Complex) and to expand the complex by paraxylene & rubber plants.

Project scope

  • Task: Engineering, delivery & commissioning support
  • System: Intercom & Public Address Systems
  • Scope of delivery/details:
    • About 24 INTRON-D plus central exchange units with amplifier cabinets will be networked by using the dedicated Ethernet network.
    • Each system will be designed redundantly; the central exchange unit and the PSU will be configured in 1+1 redundancy, whereas the centralized amplifiers will be provided in N +1 redundancy.
    • The systems will seamlessly be linked to the existing refinery areas located in the DTA (Domestic Tariff Area) and the SEZ (Special Economic Zone). For this purpose, INDUSTRONIC’s INTRON-D systems on site will be upgraded and the existing Neumann MDK system will be replaced by a new INTRON-D plus system.
    • Approx. 700 different types of intercom stations (IP-based & digital) are interconnected and used for indoor and outdoor applications as well as for explosive areas (zone 1 & zone 2). Among them are Access Panels and IP-based PC intercom stations.
    • Approx. 65,000 W centralized amplifier power with zone selection
    • Approx. 2,600 indoor, outdoor & explosion-proof loudspeakers
    • Interface to the external fire & gas system will be provided by using up to 1000 Modbus telegrams in redundant configuration as well as an interface to the local DCS system, the local siren system as well as the VoIP-based telephone system is planned
  • Schedule: A general agreement was signed in September 2014 which serves as a basis for several partial orders until the end of 2016.
  • Parties involved in the project: The orders were awarded to INDUSTRONIC and its local partner DeeEm Systems by Reliance Industries Ltd. Mumbai.

Special features

  • IP-based & digital communication & public address network with interfaces to various third-party systems such as fire & gas alarm system, siren system, IP telephony system and DCS
  • Plant-wide interconnection of INTRON-D plus systems in order to meet the high safety & availability requirements of our customer
