General project description

OPaL is setting up a grass root mega petrochemical project at Dahej, Gujarat. The complex is going to be one of the largest of its kind in the country. The complex's main Dual Feed Cracker Unit has the capacity to produce 1100 KTPA ethylene, 400 KTPA propylene and the Associated Units consist of the Pyrolysis Gasoline Hydrogenation Unit, Butadiene Extraction Unit and Benzene Extraction Unit. Furthermore, there are also Basic Polymer Units for the production of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP).

Project scope

  • Task: Engineering, delivery and commissioning support
  • System: Plant Communication System for Utilities & Offsites
  • Scope of delivery/details:
    • A total of 15 INTRON-D plus central exchange units are interconnected via INDUSTRONIC’s digital exchange unit interface using FO single mode cables
    • The main system is provided with a redundant central exchange unit as well as a 1+1 power supply
    • 7 cabinets of the sub systems were supplemented by additional remote amplifier racks
    • 11 master intercom stations in the control rooms
    • Approx. 61 desktop intercom stations for indoor use as well as 210 weather-proof and 230 explosion-proof intercom stations
    • All outdoor intercom stations are equipped with additional 25-W booster amplifiers as well as respective horn speakers. Intercom stations in noisy areas are additionally equipped with flashing warning beacons
    • Interfaces to the fire & gas detection system and telephone system
  • Schedule: Delivery in 2014, commissioning planned for 2015
  • Parties involved in the project: EIL (Engineers India Ltd) – Project Management Contract.
    Samsung Engineering – EPC. Order assigned by system integrator Fernas India. Commissioning will be performed in cooperation with the local INDUSTRONIC partner Dee-Em Systems, Mumbai.
