General project description

Evonik is a leading speciality chemicals company based in Germany. Its sites in Darmstadt, Weiterstadt as well as Worms are well-known for the production of methacrylates. More than 1700 people are employed at these three locations with a total area of more than 900,000 m².
The interconnection of the control centers facilitates the cooperation and coordination of different business units such as Performance Polymers, Coatings & Additives, Site Services as well as the company fire departments.

Project scope

  • Task: Planning, delivery and commissioning
  • System: Communication, public address and general alarm system (PA/GA)
  • Scope of delivery/details:
    • 3 INTRON-D plus systems for the fire departments
    • Engineering services
    • Configuration of interfaces
    • Integration test
  • Schedule: Planning, placing of orders, delivery and commissioning in 2014/2015
  • Parties involved in the project: Frequentis Nachrichtentechnik GmbH, a supplier of communication and information systems (commissioning of control centers with connection to INDUSTRONIC’s INTRON-D plus central exchange cabinets) and Evonik Industries AG.
    Commissioning was performed by the INDUSTRONIC service department and the project team on site.

Special features

  • INDUSTRONIC systems located in production, laboratory and administration buildings are interconnected to the new control center systems of the fire departments in Darmstadt/Weiterstadt and Worms
  • Upgrade of communication systems for fire departments to INTRON-D plus systems
  • Provision of emergency operator stations (fallback solution)
  • Interconnection of 35 INDUSTRONIC sub systems via different interfaces
