Therefore, we implemented the following IT protocols:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>SPF <\/strong>(Sender Policy Frameworks),<\/li><li><strong>DKIM <\/strong>(Domain Keys Identified Mail)and<\/li><li><strong>DMARC <\/strong>(Domain-based Message Authentification, Reporting and Conformance).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SPF<\/strong> and <strong>DKIM<\/strong> are used to filter spam, spoofing and fraud mails, in addition <strong>DMARC<\/strong> tells the recipient how to deal with it. The entity that holds all this information is our DNS (Domain Name Service). That\u2019s the service on the Internet that converts names, like www.industronic.de, into an IP address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"582\" src=\"https:\/\/www.industronic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/secure-email-1024x582.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.industronic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/secure-email-1024x582.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.industronic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/secure-email-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.industronic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/secure-email-768x437.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.industronic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/secure-email.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>In order to give you a better understanding of how it works, we would like to describe it more detailed. To make it easier, let&#8217;s compare sending e-mails with sending letters via courier:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the beginning, INDUSTRONIC Wertheim sends a letter to the customer \u2018ABC\u2019. On the road the letter courier is distracted by a criminal person and the letter is stolen. This criminal person changes the content to his preference, e.g. changes the payment account data, and then forwards it to \u2018ABC\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At \u2018ABC\u2019, the criminal, who pretends to be the courier, arrives and wants to deliver the letter. But before he can do so, <strong>SPF<\/strong>, an \u2018employee\u2019 at the reception desk, checks where the letter comes from and whether the letter courier is the one INDUSTRONIC has instructed. This is not the case. So, due to <strong>SPF<\/strong> it was revealed that the letter courier is not the right one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, <strong>DKIM<\/strong>, another \u2018employee\u2019 at the reception checks whether the sealed envelope is still closed and intact. This is also not the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a next step, <strong>DMARC<\/strong> gives instructions to the people at the reception desk how to deal with this letter. There are three options: To accept, to quarantine or to reject the letter &#8211; AND in all cases notify the sender, which is INDUSTRONIC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to this process the recipient is able to easily detect and take measures against spam and fraud. This has positive effects for every involved party \u2013 because e-mail fraud is not to be underestimated and can be very dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our appeal to you, valued partners and customers, check your mail server settings so that we can communicate securely with each other. Make sure that <strong>SPF<\/strong>, <strong>DKIM<\/strong> and <strong>DMARC <\/strong>are enabled in your mail servers. Certified e-mail service providers can also help with this complex issue.
