Furthermore, there is an impressive number of intercom stations and devices to test latest versions as well as older ones with respect to compatibility and function. The colleagues who work there have mainly three tasks.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2052\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2052\" style=\"width: 212px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.industronic.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/306_Industronic_klein-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2052\" src=\"https:\/\/www.industronic.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/306_Industronic_klein-1-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"319\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2052\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Work at a test system in our in-house testing room<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><strong>Testing of new software releases<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>New software versions, either for already existing or completely new products, have to be tested prior to approval. It is important to properly test and retest all functions of a new software release in order to detect and fix any bugs before the product comes on the market.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Replication of incidents in the field<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When incidents occur in the field, it sometimes helps to reproduce them here in our headquarters and analyze their cause. Often it is merely operating error and our <a title=\"Technical Support Center offers customer service with a ticket system\" href=\"https:\/\/www.industronic-blog.com\/technical-support-offers-customer-service-ticket-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Technical Support <\/a>gladly provides the customer with guidance for proper usage.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Extension or upgrade of existing systems<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The third task is to simulate an extension or upgrade of existing customer systems before the implementation in the field. This is necessary in the case of complex systems with many interconnections or safety systems. During these tests the system is systematically stressed. This way the customer receives a well-prepared system minimizing the shutdown time needed for installation and commissioning.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, my colleagues in the <em>Functional Testing<\/em> department have an interesting and varied job that holds a lot of responsibility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Author: Carina Kn\u00f6rzer In my series about different departments of our company, I am introducing you to Functional Testing today.
